First Posting

This is a new blog devoted to issues involving family law in Georgia. Family law here is very challenging - NOT because the subject matter is complicated, but because of the way the courts handle it. Nowhere else, I venture, do litigants so little understand or appreciate the possible outcomes. Nowhere else are the expectations of the parties entering the system so at variance with the process they endure. This blog is being started in the hope that a groundswell of support may develop to do something about this tragedy. It is also being started to help those who are entering the process have a little hope that the end may not be a total disaster.

  1. We are writing in response to this blog. Congratulations! As far as our comments on Guardian ad litems in Georgia, they may be needed; however, when they testify as experts in fields in which they have limited knowledge (child development and parenting) it does not serve the best interest of the children. Furthermore, a process in the courts should be there to aid and assist litigents not to impeach and malign them simply because they are getting a divorce. Beware whoever enters the Georgia family court system as a litigent you must gain deep insight into your rights. As a family therapist and advocate for children we believe that it is in the best interest of the children to maintain accessibility to both parents. Unfortunately, many of the Georgia court's mental health experts do not understand this and would rather be politically correct (meaning creating single parent families) than advocate and opine in what is truly in the children's best interest that of enjoying both parents. Can't wait to hear more on behalf of The National Parents' Rights Association.
